Grief & Loss Counselling on the Gold Coast

There Is No Right Way to Grieve

I offer grief counselling on the Gold Coast for people carrying a loss that has changed things. That might be the death of someone important, the end of a relationship, a major life transition or another significant loss that has left a gap.

Grief does not stay neatly in one part of life. It can affect your emotions, your sleep, your concentration, your relationships and your sense of who you are now. There is no right or wrong way to grieve and no timeline you are supposed to keep to, whatever anyone else seems to expect.

The Kinds of Loss We Can Talk About

Loss takes many forms, and grief is not reserved for one of them. Whatever has brought you here, it is welcome in the room.

Bereavement

The death of someone who mattered to you, and everything that comes with it — including the things that are hard to say out loud to the people around you.

Relationship loss

A separation, a divorce or the end of another significant relationship, with all the emotional and practical unravelling that follows.

Identity and role changes

When a loss changes your routines, your responsibilities or the way you understand your place in the world, and you are not quite sure who you are now.

Reminders that catch you

Anniversaries, birthdays, places, belongings and family occasions have a way of bringing grief straight back. We can talk about how you get through them.

What Sessions With Me Can Look Like

You do not need the right words, and you do not need to tell me the whole story in one appointment. We can begin wherever feels possible — with what happened, with how the last few weeks have been, or simply with what made you reach out now.

Some sessions may centre on memories and the person you have lost. Others may be about day-to-day life: sleep, concentration, relationships, responsibilities, or a difficult date coming up. There will be no pressure from me to move on to anybody's schedule.

If you find yourself unable to speak about part of it yet, that is fine. We can sit with what is there, and the rest can wait until it is ready.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Grief does not follow one timeline or one order. It can ease and then return, and intensity can change over time. Whatever your experience looks like, we can make space for it.

No. Grief can follow the end of a relationship, a major life transition, changes in health or ability, and other significant losses. Any loss that has changed things for you is worth talking about.

That is very common, and it is completely okay. You can start with whatever feels manageable and share more only if and when you want to. There is no requirement to describe everything.
