Relationship Counselling on the Gold Coast

When You Keep Having the Same Conversation

I offer relationship counselling on the Gold Coast for couples who keep circling back to the same argument and cannot quite find a way through it. You might notice conversations turning defensive, or one of you shutting down before anything gets resolved. You might feel unheard or misunderstood, or more like housemates than partners. Sometimes trust has been affected, or the pressures of work, parenting and everyday life have quietly created distance.

You do not have to wait until the relationship is at breaking point to come in. Many couples arrive simply because something has felt off for a while and they would like to understand it. My role is not to take sides or decide who is right and who is wrong.

What Couples Often Bring to Counselling

Every couple arrives with something different, and not all of these will apply to you. They are simply the themes that come up most often.

Communication loops

Conversations that escalate quickly, turn defensive, or end with one person shutting down before anything is really said.

Recurring conflict

The same argument returning in different forms, often because the feelings or needs underneath it have not been heard.

Trust & connection

Past hurt, dishonesty or broken promises, emotional distance, or changes in affection, intimacy and time spent together.

Pressure around the relationship

Parenting, work, stress, grief, finances or a major transition taking up the space the two of you used to share.

What Sessions With Me Can Look Like

The first session gives both of you room to explain what has brought you in and what you each hope to get from counselling. You do not need to agree on the problem beforehand — different views of what is happening are useful, not a barrier.

From there I offer a balanced space where both perspectives are heard. We can look at the patterns that keep repeating between you, and explore practical communication options together. Where outside pressure is part of the picture, my stress counselling page describes that individual support.

Nobody has to decide the future of the relationship in a first session. If one of you is unsure about staying, that uncertainty can be talked about openly without being pushed towards a decision. Relationship sessions take place face-to-face in Hope Island.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Plenty of couples come in well before things reach breaking point, simply because the same conversation keeps repeating or they have been feeling disconnected. You are welcome to come in at any stage.

No. My role is to hold a balanced, respectful space where both of you can describe how things feel from where you sit. I am not there to decide who is right or wrong.

That is okay, and you do not need to have made a decision before attending. We can explore each person's concerns and perspective without forcing an outcome either way.
